Passengers using London Euston station this Easter are being reminded to plan ahead and allow extra time during upgrade works.
Engineers will be carrying out a range of projects to improve the track, signalling and equipment between the 3rd and 8th April.
The work will take place between London Euston and Milton Keynes, including:
- £6.6 million to waterproof a bridge in Ledburn and £7 million to upgrade nearby signals.
- Wembley will see a £8 million renewal of overhead line equipment
- Willesden will see a range of upgrades to the track as part of an £8.4 million investment
- A £2 million power supply project will be carried out in Bushey
- Station platforms and canopies will be repaired at Harrow & Wealdstone station with a £5.8 million investment
- Apsley will have lifts installed as part of an £8.9 million Access for All scheme
The work means that no trains will run between London Euston and Milton Keynes, to allow for the work to be carried out safely.
Journeys can be checked online.
“There is a large amount of work taking place over the Easter bank holiday and until 8 April to improve the reliability of the West Coast Main Line for the millions of passengers and freight operators who rely on this route.
“There will be some major changes to journeys between Euston and Milton Keynes in this six-day period so we’re urging everyone who plans to travel over Easter to check their journey in advance at National Rail Enquiries.”
Gary Walsh Network Rail’s West Coast South route director
