South Eastern Railway has announced that on Wednesday, 11 March, at One Birdcage Walk, Central London, rail enthusiasts and history buffs alike are invited to a one-off event celebrating two centuries of passenger rail travel.

Travel through time with stories of London’s earliest railways, 19th-century rivalries, wartime contributions, and iconic services like the Golden Arrow.

Experience the Network SouthEast renaissance, the transformative era of privatisation, the UK’s fastest domestic trains, and the dawn of a new public ownership era under Great British Railways.

Guiding this journey are railway authorities who lived and shaped its history: celebrated author Christian Wolmar, Network SouthEast founder Chris Green OBE, and Steve White, Managing Director of South Eastern Railway today. Their insights will take attendees from the past, through the present, and into the exciting future of rail in the region.

The evening, marking the grand finale of South Eastern Railway’s Railway 200 celebrations, includes talks, a Q&A session, and networking over a welcome drink (paid bar available). Doors open at 18:45, and the event departs promptly at 19:30.
