Direct Rail Services (DRS) has confirmed that its much-anticipated open day will be returning later this year, welcoming visitors to a special behind-the-scenes experience at one of the UK’s leading rail freight operators.
Taking place between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday, 11 July at the Gresty Bridge Depot in Crewe, the family-friendly event offers a rare opportunity to explore the company’s maintenance facilities, step inside locomotive cabs, and meet the professionals who keep vital rail freight services moving across the country.
Adult tickets are priced at £6.13, including booking fees, with the £5 base price donated directly to Direct Rail Services’ sponsorship and charity fund supporting UK causes and community initiatives.
Entry for under-16s is free, although tickets must still be booked in advance.

All tickets must be purchased via Eventbrite and will not be available on the day. Attendance is limited to ensure safety at the operational depot.
Visitors should note that there is no general parking on-site, and bags may be searched, as certain items, including drones and alcohol, are prohibited. Suitable footwear is required, and children must be supervised at all times.
“I’m delighted we’re able to host another fantastic open day this year, I am very excited to welcome guests to this wonderful family experience.
“The money raised from the open day goes to help charities, community projects and good causes across the country and we’re really proud of the support we provide through this fabulous event.”
Tony Hewitson, Interim Rail Director at NTS.
