Urgent embankment strengthening works near Dronfield station are underway this weekend, resulting in changes to car park accessibility at the station.

From today (6th March), only half the station will be usable with no public access on the 7th and 8th March.

Contractors are on site managing deliveries; however, the work will expand overnight, taking up most of the space in the car park.

Buses are operating in place of trains over the weekend between Sheffield and Chesterfield while bridge replacement works take place at Beauchief.

Full access to parking at the station is expected to return by the 9th March.

Passengers are reminded to check before they travel and allow additional time for journeys to ensure they can reach their destination.

“We are carrying out urgent groundwork in the Dronfield area this weekend. This work is essential to keep the railway safe.

“We’re sorry for the short notice and any disruption caused. Our teams will be on site throughout the weekend to ensure people can still access their vehicles safely, and to keep disruption to a minimum while we carry out these essential repairs.”

Grace Donaldson, Network Rail project manager
