Model railway manufacturer Dapol has announced the production of O Gauge models of the London & South Western Railway (LSWR) four-wheel coaches.

The coaches were built at the London & South Western Railway works at Nine Elms in southwest London in the mid-to-late 19th century, with many being built in the 1870s and the 1880s. Many of the later coaches survived into the early 20th century.

All models depict oil-lit coaches, and four types will be available: All Third, All First, Composite, and two different-numbered versions of a Brake Third.

All models will be finished in fully-lined London & South Western Railway livery, and would be an ideal complement to a green LSWR Terrier. Each model has a superbly detailed body, with many separate parts and metal-sprung buffers.

Final refinements are being made to the designs, and finished models are expected in shops towards the end of May. Recommended retail prices are £127.02 for unfitted versions, £155.89 with a lightbar fitted, and £190.52 with a lightbar and DCC fitted.

Other ) Gauge models to be released by Dapol this spring include pitched-roof Salt Vans, and wagons with special liveries to celebrate World Book Day.
