Following a landslip on Thursday last week, which caused a collapse of a retaining wall onto the line near Worcester.
The railway between Droitwich Spa and Worcester Foregate Street was damaged, and engineers implemented a short-term solution to keep services running.
However, since the initial collapse, the wall has slipped further over the weekend.
Due to the hazard this poses, over 1,200 tonnes of soil are to be excavated, and the wall is to be strengthened with 240 concrete blocks.

Network Rail and contractors QTS will continue the work until the section is stabilised, which will take a few days.
For safety reasons, no services currently operate between Worcester Foregate Street and Droitwich Spa; an amended service is in place between Worcester Shrub Hill and Worcester Foregate Street/Droitwich Spa.
Services should resume over the next few days. Passengers are advised to check before they travel.
“We would like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out this complex and essential work to make the railway safe.
“Our teams are working around the clock to stabilise the cutting and get people back on the move as quickly as possible.”
Adam Checkley, infrastructure director for Network Rail Central route
