Wabtec Corporation of the USA has acquired Swedish railway equipment manufacturer Dellner Couplers.

Based in Sweden but supplying components globally, Dellner Couplers manufactures train connection systems for passenger train rail rolling stock. The acquisition of Dellner complements Wabtec’s portfolio and strengthens its position in the passenger market for railway systems.

Established in the 1940s, approximately 100,000 Dellner couplers and 12,500 gangway train connection systems have been installed worldwide. The company has a global customer base of over 200 customers and has production assembly facilities in 13 countries. Dellner couplers will complement Wabtec Corporation’s position as a global supplier of equipment and systems in freight and transit railway industries, and the mining, marine and industrial industries.

Wabtec has a major presence in the UK with a manufacturing facility at Barton-under-Needwood, in Staffordshire.
