BBC Three premiered a new series of short-form dramas named DOPPELGÄNGER, which featured the Tyne and Wear Metro.

Numerous shots were taken across the Metro network, including at St James station and on board a train.

Metro appears in a recognisable scene where a red balloon floats down the escalator at St James station and onto a train.

The operator was happy to provide a local backdrop for the playwright, written by Alison Carr, who is Newcastle-born.

“It’s great that Metro has appeared in this brilliant new drama for BBC Three. We were delighted to work with the team at Candle & Bell on the project.

“Metro is part of everyday life in our region and provides some great backdrops for filming of this kind.”
