Greater Anglia passengers travelling on the Great Eastern Main Line on Sunday, 22nd February, are advised to plan ahead before travel, as work is taking place in the Suffolk area.
The work, being carried out by Network Rail, will affect services operated between Ipswich and Diss. During the day, trains will continue to run between Norwich and Diss, Ipswich and London, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge, and Bury St Edmunds and Peterborough.
No trains will run between Diss and Ipswich, or Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, with rail replacement buses running. Customers are advised to allow extra time for travel and to check their journey before setting off.
The engineering work forms part of a project by Network Rail to modernise signalling on the Great Eastern Mainline, including swapping out components of the 40-year-old signalling system at the Norwich end of the Great Eastern Main Line.

The upgrades will improve reliability and support the long-term performance and longevity along the line.
The components support several signalling functions, including detecting train positions along the route. New digital parts, more compatible for future upgrades, helping to future-proof the railway.
“We’ll be making the most of the time when trains aren’t running to replace ageing signalling technology. Engineers will be removing old analogue components and installing new digital versions, minimising delays in the here and now, while helping to make this part of the railway fit for the future. Thank you for bearing with us while we get the job done.”
Katie Frost, Network Rail Anglia Route Director.
