Last month, cable was stolen from part of the line in Fife, near the Valleyfield Lagoons.
Network Rail staff reported sections of the cable were cut and hidden around 2:50 pm on the 26th January.
Officers attended the area and found further attempts had been made to cut the cables.
As a result, £20,000 in damages was caused, and British Transport Police are now appealing for information and witnesses.
Anyone with information, including sightings of suspicious vehicles or dashcam footage from the area (starting the evening of the 25th), should contact BTP.
