Following on from the wide range of models introduced in 2025, model railway manufacturer Hornby heralded 2026 by announcing over 150 new OO gauge products on 14th January.

Among the new products are a Sovereign Pullman Train Set, preserved rebuilt Merchant Navy Pacific No. 35028 Clan Line, and a Battle of Britain Pacific No. 34057 Biggin Hill and West Country Pacific No. 34006 Bude train pack.

A4 Class Mallard has had an update and a limited edition version of sister locomotive No. 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley has been released.

Differing from Hornby’s usual range is the Sovereign Pullman Train, which is aimed at collectors rather than new modellers, and is more detailed than traditional train set.

The limited edition version of 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley includes model figure of Sir Nigel Gresley himself, and it incorporates Hornby’s steam generator technology. It is finished in attractive lined garter-blue livery, and has working lights and an illuminated flickering firebox. Included in the pack are three Pullman coaches, track and power supply, so it can be used straight out of the box.

A Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 800 800001 Train Pack is finished in the striking GWR livery and contains a drive car and a dummy car with directional lighting, allowing authentic operation backwards and forwards.

To complement the GWR Class 800 800001 Train Pack are a range of coaches, including an 812001 MS coach, 813001 MC coach, and 814001 MS coach.

Another offering is the London North Eastern Railway’s Class 800 800201 Train Pack, which, like the GWR Class 800 800001 Train Pack, contains a drive car and a dummy car with directional lighting. There is also a complementary range of coaches, with an 812001 MS coach and 814201 MC coach.

Now available for pre-order is an Open Third & Brake Third, Brake Third & Kitchen Third, and Double Open First coach pack for the London & North Eastern Railway’s’West Riding Limited’. Painted blue, they replicate a train of the late 1930s, and have sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings.

Previously announced is what used to be a common sight in the north of England: a Northern Rail Class 153 No. 153360.
