Last month, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway announced the urgent work needed on Bridge 42.
They opened up donations to help ensure that the railway can repair the bridge as soon as possible.
Significant progress has been made towards their target, with £130,000 raised towards the stabilisation.
This funding will go towards propping up the bridge to allow the 2026 season to run.
The designs for the temporary solution have been completed, and details will be submitted to the relevant environmental authorities for approval.
The total costs to prop up the bridge are estimated at around £250,000, and repairs to the bridge are estimated at around £550,000.
The railway is extremely grateful to those who have donated and to anyone who makes future donations.
Donations and further information can be made online.
“Reaching £130,000 is a hugely important milestone for the Bridge 42 project. The temporary propping is essential to stabilise the structure and allow us to safely move forward with both operational planning and the permanent repair works. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far, their generosity is directly enabling progress on site and bringing the return of services in 2026 closer.”

Its a shame I heard a rumour that the CEO had a lovely pay of many thousand pounds a year. If true rather than give the CEO a raise put that towards to repair. It seems they are always asking for donations when they could maybe look at pay rates and what job roles they dont really need.
