Greater Anglia have unveiled a new campaign to promote more seamless and sustainable travel across the East of England. The initiative shines a spotlight on the variety of connected transport options for passengers, making it easier and more reliable to use public transport from start to finish of journeys.

The campaign builds on the operator’s Integrated Transport Strategy and aims to raise awareness of the many onward travel options available. By encouraging passengers to consider alternatives to private car use, the initiative aims to reduce car dependency and allow for positive and dependable public transport.

In collaboration with local councils, transport providers, and community organisations, Greater Anglia is placing particular emphasis on improving understanding of “first and last mile” connections. These are the crucial links between passenger destinations and railway stations. Strengthening these locations aligns with national environmental efforts and customer experience improvements.

As part of the initiative, customers will also see information on onward travel, promotion of integrated ticketing options such as PlusBus, and improvements to interchanges. Together, these measures are intended to give passengers greater confidence in using public transport for their entire journey.

“Most journeys do not begin or end at a railway station, and that ‘first and last mile’ is often the biggest barrier to using public transport.

“This campaign is about making those connections clearer and easier, so customers can confidently use public transport for their whole journey.”

Scott Dolling, Partnerships Manager at Greater Anglia.

“We want to make public transport the natural first choice for travel across our region. That means looking beyond the train itself and focusing on the whole journey experience.

“This campaign reflects our ambition to deliver simpler, more connected and more sustainable travel for the communities we serve.”

Martin Beable, Managing Director at Greater Anglia.
