The Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC) has announced that an exclusive 00 gauge model of a Class 175 diesel multiple unit (DMU) in unbranded Transport for Wales (TfW) livery will be available towards the end of this year.

The model, produced by Revolution Trains, depicts a TfW Class 175 as operating on the Great Western Railway (GWR) in Devon and Cornwall. Twenty-six Class 175s, comprising ten two-car and 16 three-car units, are being transferred from TfW to GWR for operation in southwestern England.

The KMRC model will be a two-car version of a Class 175, unit No. 175009. It will be designed for running around Peco radius 2 curves, and have a detailed interior with working directional lights and user switchable lighting functions.

Electrical connections between cars will be through kinematic close coupling, and a DCC decoder socket (21-pin MTC) will be fitted, with one decoder needed per unit.

The models can be pre-ordered now, with DCC Ready versions costing £279.95 with a 21-Pin DCC decoder socket, and SOUND FITTED models will retail at £374.96; these will have a pre-installed ESU Loksound Decoder.

The Kernow Model Rail Centre has a reputation for releasing exclusive models, with recent ones including an 00 Gauge model of Class 47/4 No. 47521 in Network SouthEast livery, and a heritage 4-VEP electric multiple unit (EMU) No. 3417 Gordon Pettitt.

“With the Class 175 units starting to be introduced in the South West and no decision yet to be made on their final livery, we are pleased to offer the unbranded livery as they are currently running in for modellers of the current Devon and Cornwall scene.”
