Passengers using Chiltern Railways are being advised of a temporary closure later this month that will affect services via the Metropolitan Line.

Due to signalling upgrade works by London Underground, no trains will be running between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 February 2026.

Rail replacement buses will operate throughout the closure, linking Beaconsfield with Amersham, Great Missenden, Wendover, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, and Aylesbury Vale Parkway, with onward train connections at Beaconsfield.

Transport for London will also run replacement buses between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, though roadworks in the Rickmansworth and Chorleywood areas are expected to cause delays.

Passengers are encouraged to purchase paper tickets where possible when using replacement bus services to avoid potential fare issues caused by extended journey times. Customers travelling between Aylesbury and London Marylebone are advised to use services via Princes Risborough.

“I recognise that this closure will significantly inconvenience our customers travelling in the area and I would like to thank them for their patience as the signalling works are carried out. The work is crucial to ensure the future reliability of journeys.

“If you are travelling between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham, please check your journey ahead of setting out as it will be heavily disrupted for four days from Thursday 19 February.”

Michael Stewart, Commercial and Customer Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways.
