Later this month, a £2 million project to help control vegetation in Liverpool will begin.
Network Rail will be carrying out the work to help reduce delays between Speke and Edge Hill.
The recent periods of bad weather have highlighted the requirement for this work.
Immediate trackside areas will be cleared of vegetation, and trees that could pose a hazard during bad weather will be removed.
The work is planned for daytime hours on weekdays, and management will continue into early 2027.
This is an extended period of time, as the work can only be carried out while trains are in operation.
“This is vitally important work which will ensure we can run trains through this area with as few delays and as little disruption as possible. However, this work is going to create a change to how the railway looks in some areas.”
Stephen Cooper, Network Rail infrastructure maintenance protection coordinator
