Inspiration, the Railway 200 train is visiting the East Lancashire Railway from today (21st January) until the 24th January, following its visit to Crewe.
The opening of the exhibition train will be carried out by Tim Dunn, a well-known railway historian.
The themed interactive train will open to visitors each day with varying opening times before moving to Upminster.
Information on the trains’ opening times can be found online, along with booking information.
There are stops left on the 2026 tour, so if you miss out at this location, there’s still plenty of opportunities, including the virtual tour.
“We are delighted to welcome Tim Dunn to open the Railway 200 Inspiration Train at the ELR officially. This visit marks an important moment in our participation in the National Railway 200 celebrations. It provides visitors including schools and railway enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to engage with the story of Britain’s railways, past, present, and future.”
Mike Kelly, Chairman of the East Lancashire Railway
