To help romantics celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Wensleydale Railway in North Yorkshire is running a special train on Sunday, 15th February.
A memorable lunchtime journey will include a delicious lunchtime sharing platter, starting with a glass of prosecco upon arrival at Leeming Bar station, before the train departs for a scenic journey through the Yorkshire Dales.
During the journey, sumptuous food will be served to guests at their tables in one of the railway’s heritage carriages.
The lunch menu will consist of:
- A selection of crusty bread with butter.
- A choice of smoked salmon & dill mousse, Coronation chicken, pork pie from a local butcher, and butternut squash and beetroot tart.
- Roast Mediterranean vegetable couscous salad, cherry tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, mint, and pomegranate.
- Dessert is a choice of Baileys tiramisu, dark chocolate-dipped strawberries, or fruit kebabs.
The train will be hauled by a heritage diesel, and departs from Leeming Bar station at 12 pm with a return arrival at 1.40 pm. Tickets cost £52.50 for adults, which includes lunch and the return train journey.
Guests are asked to please advise the Wensleydale Railway of any food allergies when booking their tickets.
Because of the layout of the vintage carriages, there is no access for wheelchairs. If anyone has mobility constraints, the railway will do its best to allocate a table close to the access door if they advise their requirement at the time of booking. Unfortunately, dogs (other than assistance dogs) are not allowed in the dining carriage.
Further information and tickets can be obtained here.
This year’s Valentine’s Day special train is a repeat of last year’s event, which marked the start of services for the 2025 season. As well as running special events throughout the year, last year the railway hosted a model railway show at Leeming Bar station.
