A significantly reduced service will be in operation tomorrow due to Storm Goretti, Chiltern Railways has announced.

50% of normal train services will operate on the 9th January, and trains may be subject to disruption due to weather warnings from 5 pm today (8th January).

One train an hour will operate on the following routes on Friday, 8th January:

  • Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone
  • London Marylebone and Oxford
  • London Marylebone and High Wycombe
  • London Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham
  • Aylesbury and Princes Risborough

Additionally, no service will operate north of Birmingham Moor Street or on the line to Stratford-upon-Avon.

That means that the following stations will not be served, and no rail replacement buses will operate: Hatton, Lapworth, Kings Sutton, Sudbury Hill Harrow, Sudbury & Harrow Road and South Ruislip

“I urge our customers to stay safe as Storm Goretti will cause significant disruption to our network on Friday (09 January). Please consider changing your travel plans where possible on Friday as a significantly reduced service will be in operation, and trains which are running are likely to be busier.

“The storm is also likely to affect evening services today (Thursday 08 January), so please check your journeys before heading out and take care.”

Tony Baxter, Operations Director at Chiltern Railways
