South Western Railway (SWR) are reminding passengers that most train services to and from London Waterloo will not run this coming Saturday, 31st January, and Sunday, 1st of February. The few services that do run into the capital will be revised to different timings and stopping patterns.
This coming weekend’s engineering work between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo will see 12 platforms closed at the London terminal, as more progress is made on electrical supply, track and signalling upgrades, following on from the work undertaken during the nine-day closure of the Waterloo over the festive season last month.
Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February 2026
No trains will be stopping at Queenstown Road.
There will be reduced services at Vauxhall and Earlsfied stations.
South Western suburban services that usually run from Waterloo, to Reading, Windsor & Eaton Riverside, Weybridge via Staines and Richmond via Wimbledon, will start and terminate at Clapham Junction.
Separate engineering works between Farnham and Alton will also take place over the same weekend, with no service operating between these two stations.

The majority of services will take longer than usual and passengers are strongly urged to plan ahead and leave plenty of time to complete their journeys.
“We’re sorry for the disruption that customers may experience this weekend. Its important customers plan their journeys carefully and allow extra time to complete them, as some services will be revised with changes to calling patterns.
When this maintenance, at one of the busiest parts of our network, is complete, our customers can expect fewer delays and a more reliable railway.
Customers can find out more on our website at www.southwesternrailway.com, where we recommend using our journey planner to see how our services are affected.”
Speaking on behalf of South Western Railway and Network Rail, Peter Williams, South Western Railway’s customer and commercial director
