Train passengers in Scotland are being reminded of the upcoming electrification works taking place between Edinburgh and Fife.

Starting this weekend on the 17th January, no trains will be operating between Haymarket and Dalmeny until the 25th January.

Network Rail engineers will be working to complete the electrification works; however, this will result in disruption.

ScotRail has organised a route diversion for some services, and rail replacement buses and local buses will serve stations along the route.

Passengers should plan ahead and check before they travel, with a route-by-route breakdown available online.

“Network Rail’s upcoming work is a vital stage in the Fife electrification project, paving the way for long-term improvements that will benefit customers for years to come.

“We’ve put alternative travel plans in place to help keep people moving, and we encourage customers to take a moment to check their options before travelling. Some journeys may take longer than usual, so planning ahead will make things easier.

“Our website and the ScotRail app have the latest information, and we’ll continue to provide clear updates and support throughout the works. We appreciate everyone’s patience as these essential upgrades are delivered.”

Mark Ilderton, ScotRail Service Delivery Director
