Beeston Station in Nottinghamshire is currently being renewed by Network Rail as part of a £1.36 million project.
The project has been planned with the Friends of Beeston Station, and work is currently progressing on the refurbishment of the canopy and waiting shelters.
Both Platform 1 and Platform 2 have deteriorated and will be refurbished as part of the project.
They aim to preserve as much of the grade II-listed station’s heritage as possible; however, sections affected by wet rot, metalwork corrosion, and glazing damage will need to be replaced.

The work is being carried out in sections to ensure access remains available throughout the project.
By the time the project finishes in March 2026, they will have renewed targeted sections of timber, replaced the canopy glazing, repaired roof drainage, treated corrosion, and repainted elements.
The station has already received previous upgrades, such as the accessibility upgrade in March 2025.
“This refurbishment is essential to ensure the safe and sustainable future of Beeston station’s historical structures.
“We’re working closely with conservation officers and local stakeholders to maintain the station’s heritage while delivering modern improvements to benefit passengers. We’re also grateful for the support of our neighbouring landowner in accommodating access to his property to allow for these improvements.”
Ann Shannon, scheme project manager for Network Rail
