UPDATE: Disruption has now ended

UPDATE: Lines have now reopened, with major disruption expected until 12 noon

The emergency services are attending an incident which has closed the line between Crewe and Runcorn / Warrington Central.

All lines are currently closed, which means that Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Glasgow Central, Edinburgh and Liverpool Lime Street, as well as London Northwestern Railway services between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street, are subject to delay and cancellation.

Major disruption is expected until 11:00 am.

Avanti West Coast says that ticket acceptance is in place with CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, London North Eastern Railway, Merseyrail, Northern, ScotRail and TransPennine Express.

London Northwestern Railway says that passengers can use tickets on Merseyrail and Transport for Wales.
