A new project will see a sustainable shuttle launched between Llangollen and Berwyn on the Llangollen Railway.
Railbus No. 79962 has arrived on loan from the Vintage Carriages Trust and will be restored to operational condition to run the service.
The Llangollen Railway says that the regular service to Berwyn aims to reduce traffic congestion and parking pressure at the Horseshoe Falls during the busy period.
The railway says that the railbus will provide a sustainable alternative to longer trains and allows it to be operated frequently whilst using less fuel.
The Railbus is expected to leave Ingrow West in February 2026 and is expected to be operating the service by 2028.
“This is a genuinely exciting and achievable project. A great deal of preparatory work has already been completed on Railbus 79962, including asbestos removal, floor repairs, heater overhaul and soundproofing. From an engineering perspective, this is a well-understood vehicle with clear solutions to the remaining challenges. Our volunteers have already inspected it and are confident it can be restored to a high standard.”

It’s great news but with the other dmu’s they’ve got surely they could start this service this year with one of them.
