UPDATE: A normal service has resumed today (10th January) apart from between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton, where buses replace trains.

A Do Not Travel notice is in place with both London North Western Railway and West Midlands Railway after severe weather overnight.

London Northwestern Railway trains are currently suspended between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street, with an hourly service running between Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street.

A reduced service between Birmingham New Street and London Euston will operate all day.

On West Midlands Railway, no trains are running on the entire network.

No replacement trains or buses will operate, and ticket acceptance is in place with Midland Metro and Avanti West Coast, but the latter is also experiencing disruption.

Ticket restrictions have been lifted for passengers to travel earlier or to postpone travel until Saturday 10, Sunday 11 or Monday 12 January instead.

As always, passengers need to keep an eye on National Rail Enquiries for the latest info.

Responses

  1. Definitely OTT behaviour from the management, so much for the reliable 24/7 railway we are always being promised. It’s a good job the same managers weren’t in charge during WW2 or no trains would ever have operated during the blitz. This kind of heatlh & safety behaviour is the reason people rely on their cars rather than the railway.
