Track replacements near West Ruislip station are being carried out by Network Rail over the weekend.
They will be replacing old rail and sleepers with modern equivalents, using a New Track Construction (NTC) machine.
1,800 tonnes of ballast, 1,270 sleepers and around a mile of rail will be installed with the help of five engineering trains and 74 wagons.
To ensure journeys remain reliable, the line between Wembley Stadium and Denham will be closed across the 17th and 18th January.

Chiltern journeys will be affected, and rail replacement buses will be in operation, resulting in longer journey times.
Passengers should check their journeys online.
“This essential track replacement will help keep the Chiltern main line running reliably for years to come. We’ve planned this work carefully to minimise disruption while delivering long‑term benefits for passengers and freight. I’d like to thank everyone for their patience.
“If you’re planning to travel, plan ahead and check before you travel for the latest journey information and travel advice.”
