Passengers in Sheffield have been advised by Network Rail of work on a bridge deck that will disrupt journeys.
The bridge which carries the line over the River Sheaf at Beauchief needs to be replaced to keep journeys reliable.
The bridge deck will be lifted into place by a crane, and sixty metres of track will also be renewed.
Preparations began earlier this week (12th January) by setting up a compound to install a temporary crane pad, and delivering materials.

This compound is located at Dore & Totley station, causing parking at the station to be unusable. Passengers are advised to use the nearby Abbeydale Sports Club, with platforms remaining open during the project.
On the 7th and 8th March, services will be affected between Sheffield and Chesterfield while the work is carried out.
Reduced and amended East Midlands Railway services will operate during the work, with full details available online.
Northern will run replacement buses during the work.
The project and station car park will return to normal by the end of April.
“Replacing this life-expired bridge is essential to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the railway between Sheffield and Chesterfield.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by the temporary parking arrangements for Dore & Totley station, and the changes to services on the weekend of 7-8 March, as we deliver this vital upgrade.”
Tom Grainger, Network Rail lead portfolio manager

Why didn’t they do this during the closure a couple of years ago for the track and station reconfiguration?
