Track improvements between Didcot and Swindon during January mean that weekend journeys will be affected.

Upgrades will be made to the track and the overhead line equipment on the 2nd and 3rd January and the morning of the 4th.

Weekend work will take place on the 10th-11th, 17th-18th, and 24th and 25th January.

During the work, services between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads or Swansea will n ot make stops at Didcot Parkway, Swindon or Chippenham.

Replacement buses will also be in place across the work, so passengers should check before they travel.

Services can be checked online alongside full details of the disruption.

“We know engineering work can be frustrating, but this investment is really important to keeping your services reliable for years to come.

“Trains will take alternative routes which means longer journey times, or buses will operate where we are to able to run trains – We’re doing everything we can to keep you moving – but please check your journey before you set off.”

Marcus Deegan, GWR Station Manager for Swindon and Bristol Parkway

  1. Really ..closed for Overhead Line Upgrades … Most strange, given electrification was very very recent. Is this admission that despite the electrification project running late and grossly overspent that it wasn’t actually done correctly ?
