Vintage Trains has announced a range of tours featuring Flying Scotsman next year.

The tour operator says that this will be the first time ever that the public can ride behind this express steam locomotive right from the heart of Birmingham City Centre.

First up will be on Valentine’s Day, when Flying Scotsman will haul three Valentine’s Shakespeare Express trains from Birmingham to Stratford Upon Avon with the option of brunch, afternoon tea or a three course dinner, or standard seating in tourist cars with the option of a buffet car.

During Half Term, on the 18th, 19th and 20th, Flying Scotsman will haul five daily services from Birmingham Moor Street. Journeys will take around an hour with a chance to have a photo with the locomotive before or after your trip.

Vintage Trains has confirmed that the RailAdvent Plus Gold member-exclusive discount code IS valid on these services. Info on the discount can be found in the member area. Not yet a member? Sign up and get instant access to the discount by clicking here.

Tickets are limited and are on sale now but once they are gone, they are gone. More details on the Vintage Trains website.

  1. It surprises me that Network Rail still allows Scotsman on the national network given the amount of trouble past tours have caused by joke Public trespassing and thus causing delays to regular passengers and freight. It really should be confined to preserved lines.

      1. It seems for the present Network Rail will continue to let Scottie run on the network, but god forbid if some idiot gets seriously injured or killed while trespassing to photograph any of the Railtours then things could get as bad as the 1968 steam ban.

      2. A train is a procession of vehicles or animals (such as a camel train, a road train, a mule train …). A locomotive not hauling wagons or coaches is not a train, it is a locomotive. IHTH.
