The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways have announced that they have been announced as winners of the Network Rail Award for best overall entry.
The award was presented at the National Rail Heritage Awards and is for the redevelopment of Boston Lodge Works near Porthmadog.
The work was completed to support the railway for the upcoming decades.
The most recent phase cost £5m and was supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Ffestiniog Railway Society and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway Trust.
One of the biggest wins for the project was finding current-day uses for the historic buildings whilst maintaining their fabric and opening the workshops to members of the public.
2026 will see the return of the workshop visits, with tickets available now via the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways website.
