Next year, a major investment will be carried out between Dunblane and Bridge of Allan.
The £4 million investment will see three structures improved to improve the resilience and reliability of the route.
Network Rail will be working on Kippenross Tunnel, the Bridge of Allan Footbridge and the Mill of Keir Viaduct.
Work on the Kippenross Tunnel will see engineers reinforce sections with concrete spray on some of the deteriorated brickwork. As well as updating signage and improving water management. The work on the tunnel begins on the 5th January.
The Bridge of Allan Footbridge will be temporarily closed following work starting on the 19th January. This closure will be in place from the 27th February until the 26th April while they carry out steel repairs, replace the timber deck, apply protective paint and manage vegetation.
Lastly, engineers will be carrying out masonry repairs and installing steel support on the Mill of Keir Viaduct. Drainage points and vegetation will also be cleared and new signage installed. The work here will begin on the 23rd of February.
This series of works does mean that services will be altered on two weekends – the 28th February to 2nd March and 14th March to 16th March.
Journeys should be checked online before travel.
