Stadler Polska has signed a contract with the Polish regional operator Koleje Mazowieckie (Masovian Railways) for 11 more FLIRT electric multiple units (EMUs) to add to the 64 units already ordered under a framework agreement to supply 75 of the state-of-the-art trains.
The contract also covers staff training, maintenance, and repair of the trains, and will create 400 new jobs and facilitate further development of Stadler’s factory at Siedlce in Poland.

With this order, Masovian Railways will operate Poland’s largest FLIRT fleet with a total of 146 FLIRT trains. Delivery of the previous order for 64 units is on schedule, and 25 of these are currently in various stages of manufacturing, commissioning, or type testing.
The new trains will operate between Warsaw and towns across the Masovian region@They will be constructed from lightweight aluminium, have a maximum speed of 160 km/h, and offer low energy consumption. Passenger features include full accessibility, air conditioning, CCTV, Wi-Fi, passenger information systems, and onboard defibrillators.
Masovian Railways’ first FLIRT trains were delivered by Stadler Polska in 2006, and another 61 FLIRT units between 2020 and 2023.
Robert Stępień, CEO and General Director of Masovian Railways, commented that Masovian Railways is pleased to see the full implementation of the framework agreement for 75 FLIRT trains as it marks an important milestone for the company and is a further step toward modernising its fleet. Funding for the original 64 units came from the EU funding, and the company will be applying for similar funding for the remaining 11 units.
In October, Stadler unveiled its first FLIRT train for Lithuania.
“The signing of this final executive contract is a milestone for us. Completing the full framework agreement allows us to continue expanding our Siedlce operations and strengthening our presence in the region. This year alone, we have created nearly 400 new jobs at Stadler Polska, and our engineering team has grown to 100 specialists – and we are still recruiting. This is excellent news not only for Stadler but also for our local partners, who play a vital role in delivering this project.”
Radosław Banach, CEO of Stadler Polska
