Next year, engineering work will be carried out on the Essex Thameside line in January and February.
Network Rail will carry out repairs and maintenance at Leigh-on-Sea, Greys, Barking, and Rainham stations; track maintenance between Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness; preparatory work for lift installation at Chalkwell and Southend East stations; and re-railing at numerous locations.
The work will be carried out over a series of weekend works, with passengers travelling on c2c services advised to plan ahead.
Rail replacement buses will also be in place on parts of the line on the following dates:
- Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 January
- Sunday 18 January
- Sunday 25 January
- Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February
- Sunday 8 February
- Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February
- Sunday 22 February
Full details on where these will be in place, along with journey-planning information, can be found on c2c’s website or on National Rail.
“These works will deliver a range of vital improvements from station upgrades to infrastructure maintenance, but I know this will cause some disruption for passengers, so I’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience as we carry out these essential improvements to improve services across Essex Thameside.”
Simon Milburn, Network Rail Anglia infrastructure director
