Storm Bram is set to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and disruption across the country today (9th December).
Network Rail has issued advice for those travelling in Scotland, as there is an amber weather warning in the northwest of Scotland.
Wind gusts are forecast to reach up to 90mph on Tuesday night, posing a high risk for fallen trees and debris.
Flooding and landslides are also a risk with the heavy rainfall potentially overwhelming drainage systems.
To ensure passenger safety, the Glenfinnan to Mallaig line will be closing from 4 pm and between Dingwall Junction and Kyle of Lochalsh from 5 pm, with speed restrictions in place on routes.
Staff will be on hand to address any issues that may arise; however, passengers are still advised to check before they travel.
A yellow warning is in place for the weather across the country, with GWR trains affected.
“Storm Bram is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain, which could disrupt the railway. Our top priority is keeping passengers and staff safe, and we’re already working hard behind the scenes to prepare.
“Teams are carrying out extra inspections and putting contingency plans in place, with staff ready to respond quickly to any damage throughout the storm. We’ll be monitoring conditions closely and doing everything we can to keep people moving safely.
“We’re asking passengers to check their journey before travelling on Tuesday and stay up to date with the latest information.”

In the hands of such ignorant managment, the outlook for Scottish rail futures seems grim.
Did I read this correctly from Network Rail ?
“the Glenfinnan to Mallaig line will be closing from 4 pm and between Dingwall Junction and Kyle of Lochalsh”.
Well, how pathetic is THAT !!!!! Can’t even blame this one on Brussells ……..
Scotrail’s default position now seems to be to stop running trains whenever any sort of inclement weather is being advised by the Met Office. The justification is always ” safety is our number one priority”.
Here’s an idea: if they stopped running trains completely, their system would be even safer!
Bram. “Stoking” up sinister issues ?
Something to get their teeth into………………
