The Northumberland Line is set to see a new late-night service introduced by Northern.
Ahead of the timetable change on 14th December, the current timetable has the last train departing Newcastle at 10:16 pm, which will be pushed to 10:23 when the timetable alters (Mon-Sat).
A new service at 11:21 pm will also be introduced from Newcastle to the award-winning Ashington.
Sunday services will also be extended, further improving the line as it nears its one-year anniversary of reopening.
“It’s fantastic to see that passengers have been making the most of services on this line, completing more than 800,000 journeys so far.
“Since the opening, we have been keeping a close eye on demand and listening to feedback.
“There have been a lot of calls for a later service and a direct link to the MetroCentre, so we have worked really hard to make that happen.”
Paul Henry, Northern’s programme manager for the Northumberland Line
