Next Tuesday, 9th December, Dovetail Games is releasing an Add-on for the Frankenbahn: Stuttgart to Heilbronn route in Germany featuring the new BR 140 and a Wittenberger cab car.

Set in the year 2000, the 51 km route features classic traction on freight services and adds the Wittenberger Steuerwagen cab car to German railway products available for Train Sim World.

Stuttgart Hbf is depicted before refurbishment, and along the route are trackside vineyards and military structures, as well as unique railway infrastructure in flyovers and underpasses and the enormous marshalling yard at Kornwestheim.

Motive power is a new BR 140 classic locomotive, built between the 1950s and 1970s, which has tap changer power and single-release brakes to challenge players. The Add-on also has toggleable train faults.

Audio for the Add-on was created by capturing sounds from a BR 140, including internal and external whistle and compressor, traction blower, tap changer wheel, internal running, joints, and flange rumble, internal and external brake rubbing, and a cab deactivation buzzer.

There is also the sounds of SIFA and PZB alarms, and a transformer buzz.

As well as train faults and passenger announcements, the new Wittenberger Cab Car is compatible with locomotives from previous Train Sim World Add-ons, including the BR 111 included in the Stuttgart-Heilbronn Add-on, BR 112, BR 114, BR 143, BR 146, and the original BR 101.

The timetable focuses on the SE and RE services of the period, freight trains hauled by the BR 140, and shunting operations with a BR 363.

Other layers in the Add-on include BR 111 Dosto and BR 425 services from Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn, mixed freight services from Ruhr Sieg Nord, and shunting with the BR 294 locomotive from the Train Sim World 6: Deluxe and Special Editions.

More layers available on release include ICE and IC traffic featuring the ICE 1 and ICE 3 from Kassel-Würzburg, with the ICE 1 handling most ICE traffic and filling in for some ICE 2 services, and the ICE 3 operating Expo Express trains to Hanover.

Auto and Nachtzug, or car and night trains, feature a BR 110 from Bremen-Oldenburg, Linke Rheinstrecke coaches, and a BR 363.

Other services see the DB BR 218 Add-on add coaches from Linke Rheinstrecke on an IRE train to/from Erfurt, a BR 628 from Niddertalbahn on mainly AI services at Heilbronn Hbf and a withdrawn rush hour service to Stuttgart Feuerbach, and ÖBB EC AI traffic to the Stuttgart area on the Semmeringbahn.

This release is in addition to the release last week of Dovetail Games’ ’Season of Reveals’ that features updates and reveals for Train Sim World, and the release at the end of November of a Class 142 Pacer Add-on for Train Sim World 6 in Transport for Wales livery.
