Major upgrades are taking place near Queenstown Road between 27th December and 4th January 2026 and will mean changes to London Waterloo services.

350 engineers will be renewing track, points and conductor rail between Queenstown Road and Nine Elms Junction.

A new track layout will also mean platforms at Queenstown Road will be altered whilst the other work takes place.

No trains will run at either London Waterloo or Queenstown Road as normal on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Queenstown Road will remain closed until the 4th January, whilst trains will not run at London Waterloo until the 28th December. Trains will terminate at Clapham Junction whilst the Waterloo closure is in effect.

Vauxhall station will be closed until the 30th December, and will also close on the 1st January 2026.

“We are advising passengers to plan ahead and use alternative routes into the capital between Christmas and New Year. We are sorry for the disruption this closure between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction will cause however these works will provide a more reliable journey for everyone who travels on one of the country’s busiest railways .”

George Murrell, Route Renewals Director
