Horse riders are amongst those being advised ahead of timetable changes affecting level crossings in Metheringham, Lincolnshire.
No trains currently run on Sundays, but from the 14th December, up to eight freight trains will use the line on Sundays.
Walkers, cyclists and motorists are also being advised of the changes, and to avoid being distracted by phones and headphones.
Martin Road level crossing is also popular with cyclists, and users need to gain permission to cross due to poor visibility.
“With the introduction of timetabled Sunday freight services through Metheringham, we’re asking everyone – whether walking, cycling, driving or riding – to take extra care.
“Please follow the signs, obey the warning lights and alarms, and never take risks. Even if you know the area well, it’s important to stay alert, and using the phone housed in the yellow cabinet at Martin Road is essential for your safety and the safety of others.”
Adam Warner, Network Rail level crossing manager
