A major refurbishment project begins next month at Exeter St Davids station.

Due to this, the lifts will be closed while all three lifts between platforms are replaced.

Those who require step-free access will be directed to staff who will take them to an alternative route to the platforms.

Additionally, a temporary assisted travel lounge will be on platform one to ensure those who need assistance can do so easily.

Extra staff will be on hand to help those who are able to use the stairs but have bikes, luggage or prams.

Work starts on the 5th January and will continue into spring. Those who usually change at the station and cannot use the stairs may consider using an alternative station to make travel easier.

“Upgrading the lifts at the station will give passengers with limited mobility or those with prams, bikes or heavy luggage the confidence that they can conveniently use Exeter St Davids station.

“We’re sorry for the disruption, but I’d like to assure passengers that step-free access to all platforms will still be available throughout the work and extra staff will be on hand to help.”

Alex Bennett, Network Rail project manager
