The British Transport Police say that passengers may notice an increased police presence across the railway network this weekend after the attack in Australia last weekend.

Events are taking place during the eight-day celebration of Hanukkah, and BTP officers will be patrolling these areas, as well as areas where Jewish communities live and work.

The British Transport Police has asked passengers to remain vigilant and to speak with officers if anyone needs help.

If you have any concerns while travelling, trust your instincts and text the British Transport Police on 61016, or report it to a police officer. In an emergency, always dial 999.

Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of those killed and injured in the Bondi Beach area of Sydney.

Horrific events like this impact communities here in Great Britain, and we recognise the concerns that many people will be feeling, especially in our Jewish communities and in light of the terror attack on the Synagogue in Manchester in October.
