Following the announcement last month that Hornby was releasing four Beatles-liveried wagons, it has released designs that celebrate The Beatles Anthology, US album covers, and a ‘Yellow Submarine’ tanker wagon.

Bright, colourful designs and iconic artwork make them instantly recognisable, and they should coon become sought-after collectors’ items.

The Beatles Anthology was a multimedia project detailing the history of The Beatles with a television documentary and three double albums comprising Anthology, Anthology 1, 2, and 3. Hornby’s Anthology wagons feature Beatles images from this period.

In 1964, The Beatles were the first British band to break into the American market, and the response was so great that several albums released in the USA had different covers to British albums. The US Album Covers wagons are decorated with artwork from the American album covers of ‘Meet the Beatles’, ‘Hard Day’s Night’.

The ‘Yellow Submarine’ is a 100T tanker wagon, with a vibrant livery based on the fantasy comedy film. These new wagons bring the total number of Beatles wagons to eight.

In 1999, a Eurostar train was reliveried to mark the release of a remixed music track and remastered version of the Yellow Submarine film. Hornby released its own version of Eurostar’s ‘Yellow Submarine’ train in 2020, which included a Eurostar Class 373 power driving car, a Eurostar Class 373 dummy driving car, and two Eurostar Class 373 passenger saloons with non-working pantographs, as well as track and a controller.

Also available in 2020 was a Eurostar Class 373/1, which enabled collectors to have a complete Eurostar rake. The 373/1 set included a Set 30053006 ‘Yellow Submarine’ train pack and a Eurostar Class 373/1 ‘Yellow Submarine’ divisible centre saloons coach pack.

Production of the Eurostar continued for the next two years, and new Beatles-related wagons were added each year. Beatles-liveried wagons released in 2021 were a ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ wagon, a ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ wagon, and a ‘Yellow Submarine’ wagon.

In 2022, further wagons included a ‘Beatles for Sale’ wagon, ‘Rubber Soul’ wagon, ‘Revolver’ wagon, and a ‘Let It Be’ wagon.
