Across the festive season, over half a million journeys are expected to be made on London North Eastern Railway (LNER) services.
Ahead of this busy season, with the 27th expected to be the busiest day, LNER has issued advice for travellers.
To ensure a comfortable journey, passengers should allow extra time to ensure they can get to the correct train and make a seat reservation where possible.
Due to the number of passengers expected, passengers should only bring what they can carry and ask for assistance where needed.
Those travelling with children are also reminded that the family lounges will be open at Edinburgh, York, and London King’s Cross.
Passengers can also benefit from the festive menu when travelling in first class.
As always, passengers should check their journeys online.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes at LNER to make sure we keep our customers on the move over the festive period, and spread some Christmas cheer along the way too.
“We also hope that our Christmas onboard offerings, including our new festive menu and the Christmas edition of our Routes podcast, make that journey home extra special – there’s plenty to keep younger travellers entertained as well.”
Colette Casey, Customer Experience Director at LNER

Responses
LNER should introduce more new services in 2026 including from London King’s Cross to Skipton, Harrogate, Scunthorpe, Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Scarborough. And using the Bi-mode Class 800 Azumas.
