Earlier today, damaged cable caused disruption at Edge Hill and services to and from Liverpool Lime Street.

Engineers are working on repairs; however, it could take some time to see a normal timetable again.

Trains may be cancelled or delayed until service returns to normal following repairs.

Merseyrail is running as usual, and service information is available online.

“We’re sorry for the disruption to passengers in Liverpool today.

“A problem with the power to our signalling system in Edge Hill means that services are delayed leaving Liverpool Lime Street. Our teams are on site to repair the damage.

“I advise passengers to check the National Rail Enquiries webpage for travel updates. We’re very grateful for your patience.”

Paul Owen, Network Rail’s area director for Liverpool
