The RMT Union has suspended planned industrial action on CrossCountry this Saturday, which means a normal timetable will be in operation.

A normal timetable will also operate on subsequent Saturdays in December.

CrossCountry says that the 6th December is expected to be a busy day for many, with planned engineering work and Christmas events meaning busier trains than normal.

Engineering work in the Chesterfield area will mean trains between Derby and the North East / Scotland will take an extra hour.

“We are pleased that RMT has called off planned strike action throughout December, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board to take them into the festive season. We aim to run our normal timetable on Saturday, but the short time available to reinstate services means there may be some short-notice cancellations.

“Engineering work on parts of the network will still mean some changes to journeys – if you’re planning to travel, please check your journey before setting off.”

CrossCountry’s Managing Director, Shiona Rolfe
