As part of the major timetable change this weekend, London Northwestern Railway passengers will benefit from thousands of extra seats.

Longer Class 730/2 trains are being introduced on the Trent Valley Line, increasing capacity by 20% on routes to and from London Euston.

There are 36 new 5-carriage electric trains that were built by Alstom in Derby.

The first of the 36 entered into service earlier this year.

The timetable changes to LNR services should be minor; however, passengers should check before they travel.

“The extra capacity we are introducing on the Trent Valley line from this weekend will make a real difference to the millions of customers who use the route every year.

“These trains are the cornerstone of our £1billion investment into the railway. As well as extra seats, the new trains offer modern features including smart air conditioning, open gangways and charging points at every seat. I am certain they will continue proving popular with our passengers.”

Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director

  1. Maybe London Northwestern Railway should run 10-Car (2x 5-Car) Class 730/2s from London Euston to Birmingham New Street, Crewe, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool Lime Street once the new timetable has been introduced.
