London North Eastern Railway and the National Railway Museum held a ‘Uniform of the Future’ competition back in January.

The winner of the competition has now been revealed, and their design has been brought to life.

Fen McIlwraith, aged 11, had her design made to measure by LNER uniform supplier, Dimensions.

The competition saw children aged 11 and above create a design inspired by Railway 200.

Fen’s orange Station Assistant uniform caught the eyes of the judges, with its additional features including a jetpack and virtual reality glasses, which displayed up-to-date information, really standing out.

The design also featured a summer-to-winter design, with zip-off trousers and sleeves.

“It looked just like my designs, it was amazing! I’ve had so much fun getting to wear the uniform, I feel proud of how it turned out. I’m really into making my own my clothes, I can’t wait to keep working on different designs in the future.”
