This weekend, Scotland hosts Tonga in the Quilter Nations Series, and with thousands of rugby fans set to travel by train, ScotRail has put travel plans in place.
The match is being held at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on the 23rd November, and fans are being encouraged to take advantage of the train travel option.
With kick off at 13:40, fans can travel on numerous services, including the additional services ScotRail has provided.
There will also be extra carriages on a number of services to allow people to travel between Edinburgh Waverley and Fife, Perth, and the Borders Railway.
The nearest station to Murrayfield is Haymarket, which is just a short walk or tram ride away.
There will be holding areas at Haymarket after the match to ensure crowds are managed safely and end up on the correct service.
Passengers should purchase tickets in advance to avoid queues on the day.
“Travelling by train is the best way to avoid the traffic and enjoy a great day watching the rugby.
“To support travel to this weekend’s Scotland v Tonga match at Murrayfield, we’re putting on more trains and extra carriages in and out of Edinburgh throughout the day.
“We’ll have extra staff on hand to help supporters travelling to the game, and home again after the final whistle.”
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director
