Network Rail will be carrying out essential work in Dorset next week.

They will be improving drainage at Poole sidings and strengthening an embankment in Hamworthy between the 15th and 21st of November.

They are aiming to help reduce the flood risk in the area and how it could impact services.

Additionally, at the River Frome Bridge, they will be renewing some wheel timbers, replacing them with a new Fibre-reinforced Foamed Urethane (FFU) alternative. At Wool, they will be completing the footbridge at the station.

As buses will replace trains during the work, Network Rail has advised passengers to allow extra time and check journeys before travel.

On the 15th and 16th, services will be replaced between Bournemouth and Dorchester South.

From the 17th to the 21st, buses will be in place between Poole and Dorchester South.

Journeys can be checked online.

“We’re sorry for the disruption to passengers while we carry out this work, but it’s essential to keep services running safely and reliably. Our teams will be working around the clock to strengthen key parts of the railway and improve drainage in the area, helping to make the line more resilient in the years ahead.”

Mark Goodall, Wessex Route Director
