For the 5th year in a row, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has received a gold status by EcoVadis.

This recognises RCG’s sustainability commitment, placing them as a leading company in sustainability, in the top 5% of all companies assessed, and in the top 1% within the rail industry.

The company has improved from the top 5% to the top 1% due to its Code of Conduct for suppliers, which addresses environmental and human rights issues. Along with their new whistleblowing software for employee protection, they were awarded outstanding in both environmental and ethics topics.

They also have targeted climate measures, including being transparent with their CO₂ emissions, the use of recycled materials and numerous other initiatives.

Their climate management was ‘Advanced’, which is the second-highest level, referring to their Carbon Scorecard and accurate reporting.

They have offset residual emissions at the Vienna Freudenau and Lenzing warehouse sites, with both direct and indirect emissions recorded continuously.

‘The fact that we have achieved Gold status for the fifth time and are among the top 1% in the rail industry shows that our sustainability measures are not just lip service. We clearly stand out in the market as a truly sustainable player, and EcoVadis has confirmed this once again. I therefore see the rating as a clear incentive to continue on our path – with full transparency and responsibility.’
