Multiple stabbings onboard train in Cambridgeshire

The British Transport Police has released a statement as emergency services attend an incident at Huntingdon.

London North Eastern Railway has confirmed that it is aware of an incident involving one of its trains. Their statement says that their ‘immediate concern’ is for passengers and staff onboard and are liasing with the British Transport Police. The BTP has since confirmed that the train involved was the 1825 Doncaster to London Kings Cross service.

A reminder – LNER’s travel advice is Do Not Travel. Please defer all travel to a later date. Ticket acceptance will be in place up until the 3rd of November.

Police are attending an incident where multiple people have been stabbed.

Cambridgeshire Police has confirmed that two men have been arrested.

Police are also stating that anyone with any information regarding this incident are urged to report this to police online, quoting incident 495, or call 101 if you do not have internet access.

London North Eastern Railway says passengers should not travel this evening.

Ticket acceptance is in place with Avanti West Coast, TransPennine Express, ScotRail, Northern, East Midlands Railway, CrossCountry, Greater Anglia, Great Northern and Thameslink.

Thameslink says that there will be no service to/from Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Neots, Sandy, Biggleswade and Arlesey.

A full BTP update is expected soon, but they have confirmed that the train involved is the 18.25 Doncaster to London Kings Cross service, which was operated by London North Eastern Railway.

1st November at 22:20 – East of England Ambulance Service Statement

“We were called at 7.38pm to reports that multiple people had been stabbed on a train.

“We mobilised a large-scale response to Huntingdon Railway Station which included numerous ambulances, tactical commanders, our Hazardous Area Response Team and critical care teams including the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

“We can confirm we have transported multiple patients to hospital. Further updates will be issued by British Transport Police.”


1st November at 22:10 – Further LNER statement

We are aware of an incident involving one of our trains. Our immediate concern is for the welfare of our customers and crew who are on board. We are in the process of gathering all the details we can and are liaising with British Transport Police.

The appalling incident on a train near Huntingdon is deeply concerning. My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response. Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police.

“The thoughts of everyone at RMT are with the victims, train crew and all the emergency services dealing with this unfolding incident.”


1st November at 21:30 – Cambridgeshire Police Statement

“We were called at 7.39pm with reports that multiple people had been stabbed on a train.

Armed officers attended and the train was stopped at Huntingdon, where two men were arrested. A number of people have been taken to hospital.

The incident remains ongoing and the A1307 has been closed as you approach the town centre.

Officers are working with British Transport Police, who are leading on the incident, and anyone with any information is urged to report this to police online quoting incident 495. Call 101 if you do not have internet access.”


1st November at 21:15 – LNER Statement

Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Huntingdon all lines are blocked. Train services running through this station may be delayed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.


1st November at 21:10 – BTP Statement

We are currently responding to an incident on a train at Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed. Officers are in attendance alongside Cambridgeshire Police and two people have been arrested.
